I presently have a brand new top-of-the-line, state of the art Digital DJ and Karaoke system with several sets of speakers and amplifiers, however I am presently using a new pair of JBL G-2 15" powered speakers when I do parties on my own. These provide, by far, the best sound for their size, the fullest bass and frequency response, and are as distortion free as you can get. I have a JBL 18" Powered Subwoofer but for the parties and weddings that call for it. But, I have found that it is usually not necessary; and I have several pair of Electrovoice concert speakers for even larger venues and functions.
Whenever I do a party, I have found that by using the right lights, it adds a great atmosphere to the party. By using a combination of 3 to 7 lights, a real Lighting System, it can help to make any party festive. I have several of the latest State of the Art LED lights that only use a fraction of the power of the older models, yet still creates an exciting addition to any type of function. The LED lights allow us to add more lights with less worry about blowing fuses or circuit breakers. Also available is a new Dual laser with not only a read laser but also a green laser for use at teen parties and the like.
When I do a two man party, I also have 4 Intellibeams with DMX controllers. The Intellibeams have some 14 different "Gobo" patterns, 10 colors and 2 of them have lasers.
I also have Rope Lights, Cop Car Lights, the latest in UV/ Black Lights, Strobes, Spinners, a Smoke Machine, a Bubble Machine, and sequenced Red-Green-Blue Flood Lights. And as precaution, I always come with backup equipment.
I used to carry over 700 CDs with me to most of the parties I did. That's over 10,000 songs! Now that I'm digital, I have over 40,000 songs in my collection. Music selection is no longer restricted by cassettes, or Mini-Disks, or even CDs. I constantly add many songs each month to the library to stay current in the Top 40, Hip Hop Country and Latin music.
When I do a Karaoke show, I use the Digital system as well. But, unlike most Karaoke shows that only have 1 or 2 microphones, I now have 4 wireless microphones just for the singers use.
